Disability Studies at The University of Toledo

Our community that values and welcomes the potential and participation of each of its citizens and visitors – including those who live differently.

In 2002, The Ability Center helped launch the Disability Studies Program at the University of Toledo. This initiative was one of the first in the country, with a vision of bringing disability culture and understanding into a variety of areas of study, with students carrying those values into our communities. Since then, the program has grown, bringing on a cohort of internationally recognized faculty, while successfully building the first bachelor’s programs in Ohio.

The University of Toledo’s Disability Studies Program is helping students and the community understand the full spectrum of human diversity.
