The Ability Center of Greater Toledo receives numerous requests for sponsorship and financial support from local organizations. While we are deeply committed to supporting community-based initiatives, our resources are limited. This policy outlines the criteria and process for reviewing sponsorship requests from external organizations.
Eligibility
We consider requests from:
- Nonprofit organizations or community groups located in Northwest Ohio within our 13 county service area.
- Programs, events, or initiatives that demonstrate alignment with our mission to create the most disability-friendly community in the nation.
- Activities that promote accessibility, disability inclusion, independent living, or awareness.
We generally do not provide sponsorships for:
- Individual or personal fundraising
- Political or religious events
- For-profit businesses
- Activities that conflict with our mission or values
- Organizations that do not uphold principles of equity and inclusion
Funding & Support
- Sponsorships typically range from $100 to $1,000.
- The Ability Center may offer in-kind support instead of financial assistance.
- Due to high demand, not all qualifying requests can be funded.
Submission Requirements
Applicants must complete the Sponsorship Request Form and provide:
- A description of the event or initiative
- How the request aligns with our mission
- Specific funding or support requested
- Recognition opportunities for The Ability Center
- Accessibility practices in place for the event
All requests must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the event or program start date.
Review Process
All submissions are reviewed by an internal committee. Evaluation factors include:
- Mission alignment and community impact
- Accessibility and inclusion practices
- Funding availability and organizational capacity
Applicants will receive a response within 3–4 weeks of submission.
Recognition
If a sponsorship is awarded, The Ability Center must be appropriately acknowledged through agreed-upon recognition (e.g., logo placement, verbal mention, social media).
Right to Decline
The Ability Center reserves the right to decline any request, regardless of eligibility, based on budget constraints, timing, or strategic priorities.
