On May 10, 2023 Katie Hunt Thomas testified at the Ohio Statehouse in front of the Senate Health Committee to advocate for the removal of the Supported Decision-Making Amendment, an increase in Direct Care Workers’ wages, and to establish a Direct Care Workforce Commission to make recommendations on how to solve the current direct care crisis. She also advocated for an increase in funding for Centers for Independent Living across Ohio.
